Anna's MRI this morning was clear in terms of shunt placement. The neurosurgeon gave his stamp of approval on her discharge.
The attending physician asked the "going home" question this morning during rounds, at about the same time that I did. She said that Anna is medically stable to go home (provided that tomorrow's heart checks come back clear).
The rehab team had Anna do a carseat check today during therapy. Anna passed, although she will need to practice some carseat time again before actually getting into the van.
Long story short ... Anna will have day passes again this weekend with an anticipated discharge date of Monday! Woohoo!
Of course, this is all dependent upon everything remaining at least status quo, if not better, for the next several days. Last time we were this close to going home, Anna's shunt infection presented itself ... and we all know how that turned out.
In addition, we know for a fact that Anna will continue to have hospital stays, both planned and unplanned, in the coming months. However, we certainly hope they will not be 3 month hospital stay.
So ... thanks be to God that Anna does not need a shunt (yet), that her heart medication seems to be doing its job so far, and that she has had the gumption to push herself each day so she can be physically strong enough to go home.
We will wait to do our happy dance until Tuesday morning when we all wake up in the same house :)
