The neurosugeon was happy with the results of today's quick brain MRI, but more importantly, Anna's oncologist was very pleased with Anna's demeanor and "clinical status" during her appointment. In fact, yesterday and today Anna has seemed much more like herself and less tired. Whew. Relief.
In addition, all of Anna's blood counts are looking quite good. Actually, her hemoglobin is higher right now than it has been in a couple of months. This is pretty impressive considering she wouldn't have been "due" for more chemo until next week, so she hasn't really had any extra time to heal yet. Maybe that extra sleep last week was required to heal bone marrow?
During the appointment this morning, we covered some of the medication questions and revised Anna's feeding plan to, hopefully, provide her with some extra calories for a predicted growth spurt. Or at least she can now start adding a little weight instead of simply maintaining.
The staff in the clinic also had a little send-off for Miss Anna. Completing treatment is a big deal and Anna made it through the chemotherapy relatively smoothly, especially considering all of the challenges she experienced during the spring.
It would be nice to say that we don't have any plans to return to the hospital until Anna's next full MRI scans in the beginning of December, but she has another couple of appointments this Thursday afternoon. At that point, we can (hopefully) say that we won't be back for several weeks. How weird will that be?!
Please give thanks that the MRI continued to show no need for a shunt. What a miracle!
