Weekend Family Project

We were getting a little squirrelly this past week, after having been following our state's isolation guidelines since March 16.  With the weather forecast predicting two solid days of rainy, overcast skies, we decided to make the best of it and work on a family project ... a lego imovie of the Biblical account of Daniel in the Lions' Den.

For a bit of background, Kate's Sunday School class had created an imovie together about the Biblical account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego as part of their weekly class in January and February, so the idea of making an imovie was fresh in our family's mind.

In addition, "the legos" came out during the second week of our time at home so we had plenty of inspiration for props and characters.  And finally, our church's Sunday School classes were scheduled to be learning about Daniel in the Lions' Den during the month of March.

We learned quite a few things during this experience …

1. We should have kept the outtakes on our first recording day.
2. Kate is very skilled with imovie.
3. Making stop-motion clips with legos takes a LONG time.
4. Ethan has awesome expression when reading lines.
5. Everyone had good ideas that could be incorporated into the video at some point.
6. We all had to practice patience with one another.  Everyone got frustrated and stomped off at one time or another, but everyone also came back to the group to finish the project.
7. Transferring an imovie from Kate’s school ipad to our desktop computer took the longest time of all of the various parts.
8. The kids both enjoyed the activity so much that they asked to do another one sometime … maybe on our next weekend that is predicted to be rainy the entire time.
