On one of the hottest days of the year, we spent a few hours with Matt's Aunt Kathy and Uncle Martin who, by the way, live in a home without air conditioning :) It was great to see them and start off the weekend with a bit of Matt's family, too.

We headed to the hotel, had dinner, and then went swimming before the girls' bedtime. The rooms worked out really nicely. My parents had a suite right across the hall so after the girls went to bed we'd head over there to visit for awhile.
Saturday morning we went swimming again before getting ready for the wedding. Matt and I realized over the course of the weekend that we must have entered a different stage of life recently. There was a time when we were attending about 4 or 5 weddings a year; this was only the second wedding we've gone to in about 5 years and the first wedding for both Kate and Anna.
Anyway, the wedding itself was ridiculously hot. It was outdoors at a winery (beautiful setting), but when it was 95 degrees and sunny. Oh, well. Everyone survived and most had smiles on their faces.

The reception was loads of fun. The girls stayed up for a bit of the dancing, but were pretty pooped by the end of the night and so crashed much earlier than most of the guests.

Sunday morning we went to church at Trinity, my home church, toured the old building and visited with a few familiar faces. Then we went out to brunch with my parents, Adam and his girlfriend, Libby, and my cousin Scott and his wife Angela. The weekend was certainly filled with lots of family and memories.
We got home in time to unpack and enjoy the beautiful fall weather before spending yesterday celebrating my birthday. Matt and the girls did a very nice job making me feel special. I got birthday muffins, lots of 32's to find (32 ... AH!), some kidfree time in the morning to make grape juice and grape jelly, homemade Mischnick pizza for lunch with my parents who were stopping by on the way back home, and then a fun family bikeride to a park in the afternoon. Lovely day.
