We're kind of sick and tired of being sick and tired right now. It hasn't been the worst sickness, by far, but Kate has woken up coughing around 5 or 5:30 for about a week now, without being able to go back to sleep. It's starting to wear us down a bit, to the point that Matt and I started showing a few cold symptoms, too.
Oh, well. Maybe I haven't taken any pictures lately because I've been too tired. I'll try to take some photos this weekend sometime.
Last Sunday we hosted an open house for friends and neighbors since our addition/remodeling is "finished". It was a crazy day, with church and Sunday School in the morning, Kate napping on Matt's shoulder during church (NOT part of the plan), and lots of visitors all afternoon/evening, but we had a good time and enjoyed the chance to share our new spaces with some friends.
Monday and Tuesday were beautiful gifts for a Wisconsin November. After preschool each day we headed to one of our favorite parks and spent a good hour running and playing before the sun went down and we had to go home. Both days we just happened to run into the same friends from preschool, so we got some added enjoyment out of the afternoons. Sunny days above 40 degrees don't happen very often anymore so when they do, we will take advantage of them! We haven't had any snow that sticks yet, but a week ago Wednesday it snowed pretty steadily throughout the day. The ground was just too warm yet for any accumulation, but it gave us a glimpse of what's to come.
Wednesday morning my mom was able to join us for music class. After 3 years with Miss Debbie, my mom finally got to experience this weekly event in our house. The girls loved being able to have Grandma in class with them and certainly enjoyed the special moments with her. Grandma even got to drop Anna off for preschool on Wednesday and have a mini-tour by Anna. Now that my mom is retired, she's able to have some of these snapshots of our daily life :)
The dark evenings are already feeling long, and we haven't even had too many weeks of them. At least we've been doing an evening playdate with some neighbors this fall/winter once a week to give everyone a change of scenery and to help us all keep in touch over the winter months. Amazingly, in the past few years, we all tend to lose track of each other until March or April when the snow melts. Not this year, though!
This weekend we don't have any plans. Hopefully a low-key couple of days will help the kids recover the rest of the way and give us a little break before the busy holiday season starts. And hopefully I'll remember to get the camera out this weekend!
