Saturday was the big day. We'd been preparing all week by finding books at the library, watching a few circus clips on YouTube, and even watching a Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood episode about going to the circus.

We had a great time on Saturday morning. Matt and I couldn't remember ever having gone to the circus so this was a first for the whole family. This particular circus was very long (2.5 hours!), so we only lasted for the first hour and half or so, until intermission. Kate, who sat on my lap, enjoyed all of the animal acts (tigers, elephant, and dogs) while Anna liked the clown antics. Matt and I also thought the elephant part was pretty amazing!

What a fun opportunity this was :)
Saturday afternoon Anna and her doll were invited to a friend's doll's birthday party. (Perhaps just an excuse for a playdate?) So while Anna was at Sadie's, Kate and I joined Lukas, Carson and their dads for a swimming playdate at the Y. Matt stuck around at home and kept working on that never-ending pile of firewood. Everyone enjoyed their Saturday afternoon activity.
Sunday the kids didn't have Sunday School at church, so we went to early church and ended up spending most of the day outside. Perhaps Jimmy the groundhog was right in that our Wisconsin winter is pretty much over! The girls played, Matt kept working on firewood, and I started pruning our fruit trees. And that was just the morning!
In the afternoon, we pulled out Anna's bike and stroller for Kate, and went on a walk/bike ride around the neighborhood. All that fresh air and sunshine has a positive effect on all of our sleep and moods. We all slept soundly last night and woke up very cheerful this morning!
Amazingly, Matt finished moving the wood out of the backyard this morning before work. Now it's just all piled behind the garden shed and waiting to be split.
